Asset Allocation Strategies

Highland develops custom asset allocation strategies for each of our clients.  These strategies are designed to meet the investment objectives of our clients and be aligned with the client’s investment policy.  We conduct informal reviews of each client’s asset allocation strategy on an ongoing basis to address evolving client circumstances.  A formal review with each client is performed at least annually.

Some of the relevant factors we build into our asset allocation analysis include:

  • Capital market(s) history
  • Future economic and investment prospects
  • Funding requirements
  • Financial statements
  • Time horizon
  • Monte Carlo simulation
  • Other client specific concerns

In participant directed plans, the number and type of investment options should be determined according to fundamental asset allocation principles.  These include time-based and risk-based asset allocation options.
